PAM AT THE CHEESE STICK

Nobody has painted the Gateway itself and lived to tell it, but the noise walls, drainage boxes and the sound-tube abutments beneath it are thick with Pam. It's the welcome sign: last bird you see leaving town, first one you see coming back in.

THE PLACE

Officially the Gateway sculpture. Universally the Cheese Stick: a 39-metre yellow beam leaning over the freeway next to the red sound tube, built to tell drivers they'd arrived.

It's the first thing you see coming in from the west and one of the most photographed pieces of infrastructure in the country.

IN THE GAME

The Cheese Stick shows up about 12800 metres into a run. Crash into it and your Pam is painted straight onto it — the piece lands in your Pam Book and stays up in the world for everyone else to fly past.
